Stirring Up the Nest
He found him in a desert land,
and in the howling waste of the wilderness;
he encircled him, he cared for him,
he kept him as the apple of his eye.
Like an eagle that stirs up its nest,
that flutters over its young,
spreading out its wings, catching them,
bearing them on its pinions,
the LORD alone guided him,
no foreign god was with him.”
— Deuteronomy 32:10-12 (ESV)
This is the passage our family has picked for our journey to Washington, D.C. God has chosen us for Himself through the gift of His son Jesus. He has cared for us by being abundantly good. We know and trust that He will never stop being good because that is who He is. These are all truths about who God is no matter where we are. But verses 11-12 start to fit in with what we are doing. God has guided us and has done it by stirring up the nest that we have been in. He has kicked us out of where we feel most comfortable and content and is directing us on. And as uncertainty arises, as we are falling through the air trying to learn how to fly, He swoops down and catches us on His wings. This is something He has done over and over. And as He has done this we have felt more confident in His directing and look forward to how God is going to work in and through us.
We are excited for the journey to D.C. that God has us on and we treasure your prayers. Please continue to pray for the many transitions we are facing. Pray as well that we would be bold for Jesus as we serve in an area that is desperately needing Him.
