Cheering Evil in New York

Cheering Evil in New York

On Tuesday, January 22 (the 46th anniversary of Roe v. Wade), the New York State Senate passed the Reproductive Health Act, which was then signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The law, which is likely the most expansive abortion bill in the country, allows late-term abortions to be performed on babies right up to the moment of birth. Not only is this kind of legal protection of late-term abortion an assault on the humanity of the unborn, but New York politicians celebrated it publicly as if they had just won the Super Bowl. It was appalling!

When the bill passed, videos show the assembly chamber erupting into cheers, with politicians and audience members applauding the bill. In a word, their cheering was evil! Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” The new law in New York is calling evil “good”. Woe unto those who did so. The Hebrew word “woe” is a strong word of condemnation concerning the judgment of God. Jesus used the word “woe” more than anyone else in the Bible.

It’s bad enough to commit evil, but any nation that cheers evil is destined for the judgment of God and history. Cheering evil is the final downfall of a culture. May we continue to pray for an end to the dreadful practice of killing our children. Their blood cries out from the grave. Woe unto us as a nation.
