The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer: A Must-See Movie

Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer was recently released as a feature movie. It is a very moving film. It is obviously controversial, and it should be. It’s about Kermit Gosnell, an abortion doctor who killed at least seven infants who were born alive during abortion procedures. In May 2013, Gosnell was convicted of first-degree murder in the deaths of three of the infants and involuntary manslaughter in the death of Karnamaya Mongar.

Gosnell was also convicted of 21 felony counts of illegal late-term abortions, and 211 counts of violating the 24-hour informed consent law. After his conviction, Gosnell waived his right to appeal in exchange for an agreement not to seek the death penalty. He was sentenced instead to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

With the exception of the Los Angeles Times, no major newspaper reviewed the movie. The New York Times and the Washington Post review virtually every new movie, but found no interest in writing about Gosnell.

In terms of a biblical worldview, this is a must see film – rated PG-13. It is a reminder of the sanctity of human life, and why the killing of any life, including babies (unborn or born) is a grievous wrong in God’s sight. May we pray for an end to abortion, and continue to reach out to those who are in need of help with “unwanted” pregnancies. This is our duty as the church of the living God.
