Make a Difference Every Day
This Saturday is “Make a Difference Day.” Celebrities are promoting it as the day to make a difference in others’ lives. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are to live “Make a Difference Lives” every day. If our focus is to bring glory to God each day as He gives us breath, then the corner of the world in which we live should be impacted because of our presence.
In order for us to impact our world for Christ, we must live our life above reproach, that is, a righteous life. It is not an easy thing to live a pure life. Oftentimes, we harbor a “hidden” sin that no one knows of . . . no one, that is, but God. Nothing is hidden from the omniscient God; it is only our foolishness that deceives us into thinking that our “secret” sin will not be brought into to the light. 1 John 1:8 warns us, “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”
God knows us. He created us, and so in 1 John 1:9, He promises us that “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Think of it, God wants to allow us to bring His light to our hidden sin so that we may confess that sin and receive His forgiveness and purification. In the light of His forgiveness and turning from our sin, we may then strive to live righteously through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is then, when we have fully surrendered every corner of our heart and mind, that God can transform us and, through His strength, we can live a life that makes a difference not just one day a year, but every day of the year.
